La promesse d'une Nouvelle Alliance s'accomplit dans le sacrifice une fois pour toutes de Jésus et de son sacerdoce. La  Lettre aux Hébreux  met en évidence les aspects clés du ministère et du règne du Christ,  en particulier son sacerdoce et sa mort sacrificielle . La Lettre souligne la  nature non répétable  de son sacrifice pour le péché et la permanence de son office sacerdotal. Il “ a accompli la purification des péchés ” qu'aucun sacrifice animal ne pourrait jamais accomplir.

The promise of a New Covenant finds its fulfillment in the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus and his superior priesthood . The  Letter to the Hebrews  highlights key aspects of Christ’s ministry and reign,  especially his priesthood and sacrificial death . The Letter stresses the  non-repeatable nature  of his sacrifice for sin and the permanence of his priestly office. He “ achieved the purification of sins ” that no animal sacrifice ever could.

Since this “ Word spoken in a son ” is complete and definitive, it is “ better than ” the partial revelations of the past “ spoken in the prophets .” Unlike his predecessors, the Son, “ having achieved the purification of sins ,” sat down at God’s right hand where he remains to this day mediating for his people as their faithful High Priest. Logically, this means that the previous “ words ” by the prophets and the ministries of the Levitical priests proved insufficient to remove the stain of sin from the covenant community.
